If you have ever been overwhelmed by variety while shopping for Tequila, this book is for you! After reading "Tequila 101" you will know exactly what you need and why you need it. Big thanks to the Tippling Bros. for sharing their knowledge and experience so that others can enjoy. The recipes offer so many flavor combinations there is sure to be a favorite for everyone and the stories they share are quite entertaining! If there are any Tequila lovers on your gift lists this is one they will LOVE! Nothing but good stuff here!!!

For someone who loves margarita... specifically a combination of tequila and any citrus this book will not disappoint you. We made several recipes from this book and they all taste authentic and so good. The only con is they have their own recipes for simple syrup and other condiments and most of ththe m only last 7 days in the fridge - a bit inconvenient.

I gave this book as a Christmas gift to someone who loves margaritas. We're both having such a fun time reading the recipes and stories in the book — it's the best! I didn't have high expectations for a cocktail cook book but the info is so interesting and helpful and it's fun to reference while making new drinks or just to read after dinner.

Love this book. I was pleasantly surprised to find that, not only do I have an arsenal of pretty kick-ass Mexican cocktail recipes at my disposal, I learned more than I ever thought possible about the history and varieties of Tequila and Mezcal. The recipes are fresh and sophisticated but totally accessible. Can't wait to work my way through all of them, now that I'm a bonafide expert on all things Tequila.Bonus: the book is beautiful and well-written. This would be a great gift along with a nice bottle of Tequila.

The first of hopefully many must have cocktail manuals from the world’s best beverage consultants. The duo who are consistently ahead of the game bring a whimsical yet informative book on the often under used and over-mixed Agave spirits and Mexican flavors. This is a modern textbook that shakes up the common exhausted recipes with fresh, spicy, and exotic libations. Bravo gentlemen!

I've made so many great drinks using this book. You can get creative with the recipes to modify them too... Especially if you have friends that don't drink.

This book has a lot of great ideas and recipes. As a heads up a lot of these drinks involve creating your own syrups, infusions, etc. Which is great and lends itself to further inspiration.

This is a well written guide to serving cocktails at a party. Very easy to follow directions.

I am acquainted with several of the heroes from this type of deployment. I now know more than I dare ask them for sure.

Just finished reading the book. Extremely engaging, well written and researched account of the "Tanker War" from the U.S. side of things. As another reviewer states, the book gives quite a bit of detail at the tactical level, which I appreciate, as well as providing enough context to get a good overall understanding of this very significant episode in U.S./Iranian relations.

Contributor Dallas Bethea was a friend from ROTC. Enjoyed the book. Author did a nice job.

Now listen up me hearties - there is a dangerous sea out there. It seems to me there is a dearth of news these days about America's Navy taking on the impossible task to maintain freedom of the seas. This book takes you into the heart of a very active American Navy, placing itself "In Harms Way" to protect American lives and interests just the way John Paul Jones intended - with fast ships and sailors with steel spines. You'll pick up on the tempo quickly when you get into this book and renew (or begin) your appreciation of the high tech world of sea-borne warfare in the modern age. Be quick - or be dead. Besides the technology involved for good or evil, there is an accurate depiction of real sailors - real leaders - in the formula for Naval supremacy. You'll learn to appreciate these sailors and the fighting spirit they bring to the age of instant decisions and sudden death. You will also learn to appreciate a great deal more - The complex mix of explosive politics in this region where a hiccup can destabilize a whole way of life on any of five continents; The near impossibility of international alliances to counter common threats; The seemingly harmless mistakes in procedure that can lead to death when time is not on your side; How the Australian sheep market can raise the level of tension in waters under contention; How a "Filipino Monkey" can force a tipping point to global war; and why the C.O. of a US Navy missile frigate would "charge" head on - a silkworm missile.Global Politics and Sea Power in action. Good stuff! A GREAT read. A superb education, even for the well informed, in the world of foggy news reporting.

The author's analysis is thorough and painstaking, and the the quality of that analysis alone makes it worth reading, particularly for a military professional whose duties involve joint operations planning. Incidents very similar to the ones that unfolded in 1987-88 could plausibly happen in the future. If they do, unified action across all components of a joint and combined force would be key to a successful outcome. What makes Zatarain's work exceptional, however, is his masterful storytelling ability. This book is simply tough to put down.

When I first saw this book's two-word title, I immediately thought this was another work about the dreaded convoys of WW2. Not so. This book starts with the Iraqi attack on the USS Stark in the Persian Gulf in 1987. It then goes on to explain US determination to keep that international waterway open to the merchant navies of the world and many of the ongoing crises since that time.In a meticulously researched work, author Lee Allen Zatarain has accessed newly released Pentagon documents in addition to the personal accounts of those who took part in various confrontations - most of which were not reported at the time. For example in 1988; Whilst under general orders to act in a robust manner but "not" to start a war!, Commander Paul Rinn of the Frigate USS Samuel Roberts was escorting a convoy of 7 ships when he was confronted by two Iranian warships approaching in a manner which suggested they might attack in a pincer movement. Commander Rinn immediately put his vessel onto a war footing and made missiles ready as he contacted the Iranian ships by radio to warn them of the consequences of their actions. They protested they were sailing in international waters but Rinn was no fool and pointed out they were not sailing peaceably by in recognised shipping lanes. On that occasion, as with many others, the Iranians backed down and went away. Nevertheless, the incident serves to underline the almost daily occurrence of anxious moments which might have led to war but would only have made headline news had shots been fired. The Middle East continues to be a parched, dry forest just waiting for that spark which will ignite the whole area into a raging inferno. Leaving aside the ongoing Arab-Israeli conflict in another region altogether, the world is dependent on oil and that commodity is found in great quantities in those countries which border the Persian Gulf. That Gulf has, therefore come to symbolise both Americas strength and it's vulnerability as it continues with its self appointed role of world policeman in which it also continues to protect itself from that very vulnerability. This is the modern "Tanker War."Altogether, a very good and readable account and I look forward to more from this writer who understands both the meaning and value of research.NM
