My kids, age almost 9 and almost 11, are loving this geography book. We just got it and they can't put it down. In researching this book I was concerned it would be too young for them. Not the case at all for us. There's lots of info on each state such as on geographical features, famous people and places, fun facts, state flags, state flowers and birds. I'm enjoying learning from it as well.

Bought this for a three year old who know alls his states and wants to know more. It's a book he won't outgrow for a long time. Colorful, interesting, and fact filled.

Got this for my 7yr old and he is so excited about learning all the different places in U.S.! Great for learning, something we do together!

With family all over the US, this makes it easy to show our 2 year old where people live. Lots of photos have also helped expand her vocabulary. Each state has unique images. It contains maps but also lots of fun facts and photography. Recommend!

My 4yo really enjoys flipping through the pages and looking at the photographs. The book is a great introduction to atlases. There is a lot of information in the book (compared to a fictional text), but this can be read over time with the support of an adult.

My grandson loves this atlas! He is almost 5 and is so interested in old atlas found this here on amazon..my daughter said he takes it everywhere they go!

It is a really nice way to give a general view of the country to a little kid. Living in New England it was great for us to point out where we go and where we'd like to go in relation to home that are well within the realm of possibilities for visits or places we have visited in the past. It's pretty boring. Bring that its national geographic, I expected more fun from this book. I would go with the Smithsonian kids atlas instead. I purchased both for home school. My daughter has a hard time keeping her attention to this book. Shes almost 11. Most nat geo books are so fun. I feel like this book missed the mark.

We found the book to be outdated and not very useful. It did have general information about Cozumel, but was not what I was looking for to achieve a better experience on the island.

Very easy to read and generally accurate. Readers should note that some of the references to restaurants and hotels are not completely up-to-date. Still very useful on recent trips.

Great reference for the island of Cozumel with a lot of detailed hints (reads like someone's diary). And as far as we've found, the author is right: Cozumel is usually a small blip in books dedicated almost solely to Cancun (or the entire Yucatan Peninsula). If you're spending more than one day on the island, definitely worth it.

I own one the the restaurants reviewed by Ms, Holt, I moved 6 years ago, she neither has my location correct , nor is the discount coupon authorized.U can get disocunts at most the restaurants in Cozumel for just paying in Cash. Don't waste yoru money. If my coupon was fake, then I can only assume more are also.Buyer beware

I have been a Cozumel resident for five years. I had the opportunity to view this guide book last week for the first time. While it appears to those who are unfamiliar with the island as a wonderful resource, buyer beware. There are numerous errors in the book which include but are not limited to: incorrect phone numbers, website addresses, e-mail addresses, improper spellings of establishments, and establishments that no longer exist...one in particular has not existed in over five years!The author has good intentions, but she did not do her homework and did not do a thorough fact check before publishing this book.

I tend to disagree with the most recent review of this book. I have been a LONG TIME part time resident of the Island, since 1987. I purchased this book for use by my guests, and have actually used it myself. I agree there are a few editorial errors, and some just barely out of date information, but 95%% of this book is valuable information, with out of the way dining options, that would seldom be found on the internet, and small shops who also do not find their way to the internet or printed guidebooks. Guidebooks are a difficult thing to keep current to the minute, as by the time it prints there are already changes. Used in conjuction with the Cozumel Can Do map, this is a terriffic resource.

I bought this book because I have a trip planned to Cozumel in a few months. And as others have found, you cannot find a book dedicated solely to Cozumel, just a chapter or two, so this book has great info. However, I was disappointed that there were no color pictures or more of them! Pictures would be much more helpful, especially when listing beaches. All-around good buy, though.

It's a good addition to your library but these types of books need to be updated more regularly as tips are given that are no longer valid (i.e., "..get Club Caribe Card at their web-site to save $$$"...) but web-site no longer exists, some stuff like that. Still, if you've never been to Coz, it's a another good tool for your learning belt.

Excellent book. I found this a very quick read. It has easy access to areas via the index and the chapter breakdowns. The explanations on planting and testing of soils were easy to understand and really do work. I tryed it. Nice to be given advice and it works. I also was able to easily find trees and shrubs that would grow within specific regions. The authors humor in her chapter titles bring a light side and catch the eye. Great book for the dummy (like myself)who knows nothing about what a tree/shrub is or even less how and what to do with them. From this book I have graduated from dummy to a true novice. Thank you.

About the Author

Marc Harshman’s collection of poems, Believe What You Can (West Virginia University Press), and his thirteenth children’s book, One Big Family (Eerdmans), were both published in 2017. His monthly show for West Virginia Public Radio, “The Poetry Break,” began airing in 2016. He was also an invited reader at the 2016 Greenwich Book Festival in London and is the seventh poet laureate of West Virginia. Anna Egan Smucker is the author of several children's books, including No Star Nights, winner of the International Reading Association Children's Book Award. This is a great way to learn about America's most beautiful residence! A fun STEM book!

This picture book focuses on just one on Frank Lloyd Wright’s buildings, Fallingwater. It looks at the process that Wright used to design the building, from viewing the site itself to thinking for a very long time about what he would design. It was at the very last moment that Wright actually put the design on paper so that the owner of the site could see his vision. That vision came to life in Fallingwater, where you can hear the waterfall from every room in the house, stand outside on the balconies, and the floor feels like rocks in a streambed. All of these details will help children better understand the architectural process and how it begins with a vision and idea. The illustrations have a lovely vintage sepia tone and feel with the blue water of the site flowing from page to page, swirling and enlivening the images. A lovely and focused look at a famous architect’s work, this picture book is inspiring. Appropriate for ages 6-9.

I’m so happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed! The story is easy to follow as we learn about the history of Fallingwater. I was fascinated to learn the step by step process that Wright followed to create this amazing house that was not built with a view of the waterfall on Bull Run Stream, but was built on top of it! I highly recommend Falling Water to anyone interested in architecture, child or adult. This is truly an inspirational story about an amazing person.

Naturally, I'm biased, but this is a well-crafted story by seasoned, award-winning authors combined with an illustrator who brings Fallingwater to life.

A beautiful and inspiring story about Frank Lloyd Wright's process of designing and building a one-of-a-kind home with amazing illustrations to match. It left me saying "So can I."

This reviewer bit her nails to nubs with the suspense in spite of having read this book before and having studied Biblical history. Absolutely five stars!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and it had quite a bit of suspense in it. The story was hard to read but so very true even to what we are seeing in the Middle East today. It had a great deal of sorrow but also so much joy. I will read anything Lynn Austin writes.I always loved King Hezekiah but now even more!! He stood for what was right and he STOOD no matter what his "advisers" told him. Against all odds he STOOD for our Lord. Excellent read.

I liked this second book in Lynn Austin's Chronicles of the Kings series very much. Lynn Austin writes a strong narrative on Old Testament figures in the tradition of Anita Diamant's The Red Tent. Other reviewers have noted Austin's use of 21st century language to convey the fictionalized account of Judah's King Hezekiah, who ruled from 716 to 687 BC. On one or two occasions, the contemporary language was a bit much for me; the rest of the time it rang true. Song of Redemption includes the Hebrew Scriptures of 2 Kings 17 and 18, 2 Chronicles 29 and 32, Deuteronomy 17, 2 Samuel 5, and the prophecies of Isaiah and Micah.The book conveys belief, unbelief, misbelief, and confused belief in God with great skill. It also conveys those degrees of belief in many gods. And idolatry is not confined to multiple gods but is found in those who believe in the One God. In this, the book is a prequel, if you will, of today.How does God (if there is a God, some say) act (if God does act, some say) in the world? Song of Redemption explores this in King Hezekiah's efforts to defend his kingdom and his people against the Assyrians. Disciplined and well organized killers, they were, as the book portrays them. I looked up Assyria on wikipedia for a look at what basic historians say about them. Oh my goodness. This series it so good. Lynn Austin is seriously one of the best christian authors out there. I can be very picky with books... but this one... it definitely hits the spot. There is just enough adventure, mystery, faith and romance to satisfy all readers. Most importantly, however, the author takes a great biblical story and sticks to the word which creating a whole world full of unique characters and experiences that are appropriate and believable for the time. The author also really builds on the characters and story... You can tell she did her research. Also... It definitely never has a dull moment. I'd pay for this series all over again. I have loaned the book out to any friend that would just take the minute to read the first chapter.... You won't put it down after that.

The second entry in Lynn Austin's Chronicles of the Kings series, this page-turner is every bit as gripping as the first. King Hezekiah has replaced his father Ahaz on the throne of David, tearing down all the shrines and altars his father erected to idols in Judah.Hezekiah leads his people in returning to worship the God of Israel, and in so doing, Judah prospers. But he must also face the threat of the mighty Assyrian army that continues a reign of terror and slaughter, annihilating all who oppose them. Ahaz turned Judah into a vassal nation under his rule, paying yearly tribute to Assyria, but Hezekiah resists, believing God will protect him and his people.In addition to Hezekiah's test of faith, and the looming threat of destruction at the hands of the Assyrians, there is a secondary plot involving a young girl named Jerusha, who is abducted by the Assyrians early in the novel. For much of the book we see their cruelty through her eyes. Eventually, her life will intertwine with those in Hezekiah's inner circle, bringing the plot threads and this story to a very satisfying ending.What I like best about these books is the vivid way in which Ms. Austin brings the Old Testament to life. From the people, to the customs and setting, it's like stepping back in time. The message at the heart of each novel speaks to the soul--through trial and tribulation, God is true.
