I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to improve the quality of their lives from the inside out. If you're just looking for a get rich quick scheme, this is not the book to read. But if you work with this book and follow the advice and make changes in your thinking, you could just end up richer than you ever imagined. It's your choice.

This is a self-published e-book of crappy blog posts.Let me save you time and money: he regurgitated the typical mind, body, and soul approach of taking care of yourself without going into any detail. Financial freedom will bring you happiness. Introduce two people you know that can benefit from each other to build your network. Make a list of your likes, dreams, and goals. Now make your own job related to that list because cubicle life is for suckers and those jobs will continue to disappear because companies don't care about you. Also, don't go to college.Congrats, you just read this book.

I wondered if I was the only one that thought this books is terribly written and completely not helpful in growing/changing/learning. Apparently I am not. I wonder how so many people actually give it a good review - could that be real?Here is how it goes. First, the guy is a jerk. "You might ask, what if you have a job? Get rid of it. You ultimately don't need it. You ultimately willl be pushed out of it."I am the type of person that likes to finish what I start, like books. The one piece of advice I'll take from this book is "only do the things that make you happy," which would be to stop reading this awful book.I would like to get my money back as this was a waste!

I decided to plunk a crispy digital dollar down on the digital counter that is the Kindle Store.The book starts with a foreword from the CEO of Twitter. Mark Twitterberg. It is only there to add some vague sense of credibility. It is very short. It has next to nothing to do with what's in the book. I read it. Then I re-read it, again. I'm pretty sure he was trying to fit it all into 140 characters. He failed. He instead opted for 140 words.Now we get into the actual book. Other people have given this book a poor rating. Smart people. Honest people. One recurring theme in these reviews is that it's not so much a book, but a collection of blog posts. That would actually be a huge compliment. Blogs often have editors and cohesiveness. This is more of a rambling, one man podcast transcription.Sentence fragments galore. Too many attempts at jokes. Repetitious sentence fragments. He likes to list things, but instead of lists he uses sentence fragments. Paragraphs are short and barely coherent. He rambles about things that hardly sound factual or researched. Poor grammar. "ATM machine". He inserts a break between every single "paragraph". To be fair, if he were writing a review on Amazon, paragraph breaks might help. It would help the reader follow point by point. This is not the case. This is meant to be read as a book.I don't believe I will finish this book. I actually want my dollar back. A red flag should have gone up when I couldn't find this book in other digital book stores. This is one of those quick, crappy books that is infesting the Kindle store. One of those terrible self help books people write as a side hustle.But James Altucher was smart. He must have paid somebody on Fiver five dollars to design the cover. This made it more appealing.If you have enjoyed this review, #chooseyourself. Choose to value your time. Choose to value your brain cells. Choose to value the dollar you would have spent on it. And don't spend it. It saddens me that this book was actually committed to paper!People (like myself. I'm guilty as well. Sentence fragment.) who read self help books, or books about entrepreneurship would be better served to stick with the familiar authors. Malcolm Gladwell. Seth Godin. Um.. People like Seth Godin. And of course, all the others. The 99U series of books were better and more coherent if you're going to pay actual money to read a series of blog posts anyway.Do you notice how I'm rambling. And repeating myself? Do you feel that pain between your eyebrows beginning to form? I'm doing this on purpose. To demonstrate how this book is written. That's why I'm doing this. Sentence fragment.

Wasted space-There's a huge list of A to Z things to practice everyday (the author has real issues summarizing his information)I can't believe the amount of 5 stars ratings for this book

Bluegrass Boy Gene Lowinger wrote this book in the 1970's, when it was the first of it's kind. It is still a classic; well organized, insightful and well written by someone who knows. I'm surprised how well this book has aged. I have many of the more recent bluegrass fiddle books, including the excellent Stacy Phillips books, but I keep coming back to this one. Should be in the collection of any bluegrass fiddler.

Oddly, no one previously has made a constructive review. Yep, it was an early effort and apparently not much out there to compete with this book.It is not really in a progressive order: subsequent tunes do not rely on command of a previous tune.First couple tunes use double stops right away and do not differentiate when notes are, for example, played against an open A string or whether an A is held down on the D string. Not always an intuitive solution and thus requires close observation of a YouTube performer.The beginning section contains instructions for a complete beginner which seems out from left field. If a book is going to immediately contain difficult tunes in the early pages, was this necessary?The historical background and comments before a tune are quite helpful and presented as interesting stories.Other sections are quite organized. A classical player will appreciate this; well, so will "fiddlers". Sections focus on various keys and related techniques required.The first thing I always do with a book that does not just flop open is to take it to Staples and coil bind it.I was hoping for a larger repertoire but the supplementary stuff makes up for it. See Duncan's collection for a huge alphebetized collection.Now there's a constructive rev... Well, never mind.

This book presumes that you already play fiddle/violin, hopefully double stops too. Starting from there its full steam ahead. Learning songs, licks and fills. Also turn-arounds and transitions to the next chord/key. Its the best book I've seen- if you can play at this level. Also shows chords, a little. Not a long book, but packed with great instruction. A good book for making the transition from violin to fiddle. Add this one to your fiddle library.

As a classically trained violinist I really wanted something between an instruction book and a book of fiddle songs. This worked perfectly.

There are a total of 101 pages in this book, but only 21 of the pages I found to have useful content, such as puzzles, games, cultural facts about Puerto Rico, etc. 30 pages comprised of diary pages where you fill in the date, the weather, a journal entry, and draw a picture. There are another 10 pages for reflection and coloring upon arriving home. The other 60 pages are checklists or lists of some sort, a packing list, a list of people you want to send post card to, size conversions, (which don't apply to Puerto Rico), puzzles/games, and the answer keys. Just buy a blank diary and find a good travel with children website.

Excellent travel journal for kids. Has about 14 days and each day asks what the date is, weather, gives space to write about your day, asks what the funniest thing that happened, the best food of the day, and what they liked best about the day. They also leave a page to add a drawing or picture for each day. There are games for the flight and down time too.

I have lived in the Dominican Republic for 22 years. This book has some good information about the country, but it also has MANY blank "journal" pages. My suggestion as someone who lives in the DR: Look up info on the country online and review it as a family. Then, just buy your child a journal notebook. The book is overpriced for the content (lack of).

I'll be heading to Alaska in 2017 for 3 weeks. Wanted something compact to record my thoughts about my trip. This will be perfect! Also has puzzles (with the answers in the back), that will be too simple for me, but I can work them with my grandkids.The journal part of the book is laid out in a 2-page spread...on the left there is room for the date, a small space to describe the weather and several lines to fill in with "What we did today". There are 3 lines at the bottom of the page with "Cool food of the day", "What I liked best today" and "Funny thing of the day." The right page has the title "Draw something you saw today" with a large frame underneath. At the bottom of the right page it says, "My picture is of:" That last thing will be good for me since I can't draw to save my soul and most things I do draw don't look much like what they are supposed to be.There's a list of websites you can use to research more about Alaska and pages to list what you'd like to see or places you'd like to visit. There are also 2 pages devoted to listing the names and addresses of people you'd like to send post cards too.The small size (7.5" wide x 9.25" tall and about 1/4" thick) will make it easy to slip into my backpack.

These were a gift for visiting children. They loved the journals! Both children explored with excitement to find the perfect subject for the day's journal entries.

Here the author, Mr. Zamoyski, trains his eye of the personal aspects of Napoleon's life, including his extended family and many loves, while also presenting the political and military context of his rule. It helps one to understand current European events with this background.Those seeking an in-depth analysis of his many battles should keep seeking; here they are usually covered superficially.Napoleon, like Abraham Lincoln and Winston Churchill, has had many volumes written about him. This one is reasonably good and even-handed for the reader wishing to be introduced to the one who upset the map of Europe over two hundred years ago.(I am in the camp that sees Napoleon as one who caused untold misery and death for no good reason, except the quest for personal glory.)

Napoleon Bonaparte (1769-1821) has had more books written about him than could fill a well stocked library! His meteoric rise and fall have been well documented on film and page. In this new biography the reader will come to learn more about the personality of the little corporal. Napoleon was born in a large family in Corsica. His father Carlo was a lawyer and noble who had a complicated relationship with Paoli the liberator of Corsica. Napoleon went to Brienne to receive his military training and was born in the days when Corsica was a French possession. He was a quiet and serious young man who became an artillery officer during the stirring days of the French Revolution. He succeeded in military glory and after a long series of complicated political jockeying became the emperor of France. He was a great field general and led France to victory over her opponents such as Great Britain, Prussia, Austria, Denmark and Spain. He invaded Russia but was forced to retreat following his defeat by General Snow in the horrible winter of 1812. Napoleon lost his crown and empire following his overwhelming defeat at Waterloo Belgium in 1815. He had escaped from the isle of Elbe but following Waterloo he spent his last years as a prisoner of the British on the island of St. Helena. Napoleon was wed to the unfaithful but fetching Josephine. She could not produce and heir so he divorced her wedding a Hapsburg princess who gave him a son. He was a serial adulterer and womanizer of historical renown. He was bright and a good leader of armies who enjoyed learning. The Rosetta Stone was discovered by a scientist who was part of the intellectual team of scholars he took with him on his invasion of Egypt. Napoleon had a large and difficult family. Much of the biography deals with how Napoleon dealt with them. He was a kindhearted man but could be brutal against his enemies. If you want to delve into the battlefields of Europe during the Napoleonic era I suggest works by David Chandler and Andrew Roberts. If you would more enjoy the personal side of Napoleon then this book will meet your needs I enjoyed this book and can heartily recommend it to you. Vive La France!

In Napoleon: A Life Adam Zamoyski works to discover the man behind the legend. Zamoyski works to place Napoleon in the context of his time period, both politically and philosophically. He works to explain the occasionally unexplainable mindset of the French Revolution and French Republic so that readers can understand how ready France was to accept someone like Napoleon as their leader.Zamoskyi warns readers in his introduction that he examines the military aspects of Napoleon's life only as he feels they effected his political and personal situation. This leads to an uneven study of the military aspect of Napoleon, heavily emphasized in the beginning and much less so by the 1812 campaigns in Russia. Waterloo receives barely a page and a half. But since these are well researched and frequently written about in other books, I think the unevenness worked in the book's favor. More is certainly known about those times than about Napoleon's family, his work on restoring France, or his behavior to enemies and colleagues.Here we discover Napoleon's formative years on Corsica and his work to define his life on his own terms. Corsican traditions emphasized family above all and Napoleon followed this throughout his life- while his brothers and sisters only considered family when it benefitted them directly. Napoleon was a man who grew up despising the idea of love, only to fall head over heels in love with Josephine- who I also learned far more about in this book than I had ever known before! He was not a man who was comfortable delegating authority, which became a serious problem when he was on campaign and trying to run an empire. Even when he wanted peace, he felt his only true claim to the throne of France was as a general.A well-written and well researched book, Zampyshki's Napoleon delves behind the myths to get as close to the man as possible. Neither a saint nor a demon, Napoleon is instead presented as a man with both genius and faults, who retained until the end of his life an incredible charisma that caused men to devote their lives to his star, even when it seemed hopeless. Which is perhaps a large part of why he is still so fascinating today.An excellent biography for those interested in learning more about French history and the Napoleonic Wars, as well as the self-made man behind the legend.

Simply put, the best one volume account of the Emporer that I have ever read. Evenly balanced, with wonderful prose, Zamoyski's biography is valuable as an introduction to Napoleon, and a highly enjoyable read for those like myself who have read many books on the great man.

Marvelously articulate conversational mode including the historian's detail and the rich socio-cultural mimesis of Mr. Zamoyski.

I bought it for the Talk Talk / Mark Hollis parts and I've not been disappointed! There is a lot of technical information about the gears, tools, SSL and microphones used for the recording of Spirit of Eden, Laughing Stock and the Mark Hollis Album, and it does interest me because I am always curious about these things, even though I didn't use them all myself, but I know a few of them. Beside that, there is also the psychological aspect, without being indiscreet, and also the way Mark Hollis and Tim Frieze-Greene did their work, how perfectionist they are, it is a true lesson about the creation process, it is fascinating! It may look quirky but to me it has a lot of sense and logic, even if it was probably not easy at all.It is also how I discovered that the Mark Hollis could have never been released, the crazy and twisted way of the records companies, worst than I knew or imagined! This part made me very upset when I realized that we could have never heard this Mark Hollis Album. This business world is definitely far from being "Fuzzy Land"...I find this book rather well written as we are not bored, and easy to read. I would have appreciated that Phil Brown gives even more details, but he has so much to talk about, that his book could have become an encyclopedia! I also read about O' Rang of course, which is a very slightly sad episode. I will also read the rest because there are a lot of bands in it that I like or even love. If you expect to find gossips in it, forget it, Phil Brown is classy enough to remain very correct in his way of telling the stories, and I really do appreciate that.I certainly don't regret my expense, even if I was only interested in a part of this book when I bought it. I recommend it highly and I say thank you to the person who recommended it to me.

Phill Brown is not much of a writer, but as a recordist he is on par with the greats. The last two Talk Talk records, which he helped create and the making of which are detailed in his book, are still game-changers. Recording or classic rock geeks will get a lot of detail in this book that other readers will probably not appreciate. There is a clunky, no frills diary tone in the writing which some may take issue with. I personally appreciated the perspective his 40+ years of record-making gave him of the changes in the music industry.As a read, there have been better books on the same subject matter. As a document of some of the most brilliant music ever made (including Bob Marley, Led Zep, etc.), it's fascinating.

I am still working my way through this book, but some of this I had read years ago when excerpts were published in Tape Op magazine and I found Mr. Brown's stories captivating. I had no idea this book had finally been released and was so happy to find it. Engineers are often overlooked for the glamour of the artist and the producer, but they play a big part in how an album "sounds". Mr. Brown was really in the trenches pulling long hours splicing tape and sometimes accidently melting it! I really hope he gets his due from this book and hopefully any recording enthusiast will pick it up. At a minimum, reading this book will turn some people on to some amazing music. Years ago, from reading his excerpts in Tape Op, I picked up "Pressure Drop" by Robert Palmer. A great under appreciated album that blew me away by an artist that most only sadly remember for his 80's commercial output (Addicted to Love/Power Station). As with some other reviewers I was very intrigued by the stories about the making of "Nigel Lived" by Murray Head. All I can say upon purchasing that records is "Wow!" An amazing sounding album with lots of sonic experimentation and beautiful sounds. Mr. Brown worked his ass off on these records, doing weird field recordings, experimenting with mic placements and all while doing copious amounts of mind altering substances and with sometimes very substandard compensation for his labor. The stories about partying and hanging with legends are somewhat interesting, but it is the technical meat and potatoes side of making these records and the creative drive that are the most fascinating and rewarding about this book.

I am a young music lover who has always had an interest in recording and the technology associated with it. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book. Even though I was not initially familiar with many of the artists Phill worked with, I found his accounts of them fascinating. I was so interested in some of the artists Phill described working with that I bought their albums while reading the book. Because of this book I bought Murray Head's "Nigel Lived" (on CD and 2 copies of original vinyl. One new, one used), Robert Palmer's "Sneakin Sally", and Talk Talk's "Spirit of Eden" and "Laughing Stock". I found these albums were all extremely unique, well-performed by the artists, and especially well-recorded. I will continue to purchase a lot more of the albums Phill has been involved in and upcoming works of his (I understand he is working with David Gray right now). I am very grateful Phill decided to write this book!

Tue 5/10/2011 6:27 am. I'm about a third through, and I think anybody who has any interest in the recording business, particularly the British wing, would enjoy this. It's like a diary, with dated articles from 1967 through 96, and two more from this century -- and a glossary! Although I did have to google for "liggers" (hangers-on). I suppose if you've been an avid consumer of Rolling Stone for all this time, much will be familiar; but I wasn't, and even then, Phill Brown seems an especially lucid no-B.S. correspondent -- surprisingly, considering the chronicled pharmaceutical intake! -- and he doesn't seem to have any compulsion to make stuff up; while. at the same time, not going out of his way to dish the dirt, which I find refreshing.

Michelson (Ph.D., Yale University) is professor of political science at Menlo College. She is author of Listen, We Need to Talk: How to Change Attitudes about LGBT Rights (with Brian F. Harrison), Living the Dream: New Immigration Policies and the Lives of Undocumented Latino Youth (with Maria Chávez and Jessica L.
