I like the design in this book. It is complex and challenging. There is a lot of room to use different mediums. I have always like ths artist for the intrinsic drawings.n I would recommend this book to anyone who is up for the challenge. It is a kindle download so the weight of the paper depends on the buyer.

This is a wonderful coloring book that is literally filled with Sugar Skulls (mostly human but there are a number of animal skulls interspersed throughout and primarily at the end of the book.) Sugar Skulls (known as calaveras) are one of the most celebrated and iconic images associated with Dia de Muertos – The Day of the Dead. This is a holiday that is celebrated in Mexico early in November but which is catching on around the world. It is a day in which one honors those loved ones who have passed on.This book is published by Skyhorse Publishing. I also have Mary Noble's book by Creative Haven “The Day of the Dead” and I find that each has their own charm. The older book has full figure drawings whereas this book focuses on the Sugar Skull itself. The artwork around and in the skulls include animals and plants as well as traditional Dia de Muertos imagery and elements. In addition to the 48 coloring designs, there is also a Sugar Skull Maze along with a small answer guide)There are so many elements that cry out for color. It is really a beautiful book for the colorist to experiment with color combinations that they may not have tried before. While each of the designs are fairly intricate, they are not small to the point of making coloring difficult or stressful. The designs are printed on one side of a good weight white perforated paper. The paper is of a good quality (though not the highest grade – see coloring medium issues below) and it can stand up well for framing. The binding is glued rather than sewn but this is not an issue as you can remove a page at the perforations if you choose to do so. The designs all stop well before the perforations and all of the designs have a framing line around them. I really appreciate this when an artist includes it as it gives me a natural stopping point for my coloring, saves me ink, and gives a more polished look to my finished project.I am starting to list my coloring medium at the end of my reviews but this is what I discovered in testing this book:All of my markers, alcohol and water based, bled through the paper. The water based were a little spotty but still came through enough to ruin the next project if you don't keep a piece of chipboard, heavy weight paper, or card stock below the page you are working on. You can also simply remove the page from the book to color as well. None of my gel pens bled through and they did not require additional drying time. My coloring pencils all worked well and as expected according to their type of lead (hard or soft.)These are the coloring medium that I use for testing. If there is something else you feel I should be testing, please let me know and I will see if I can add it to my growing pile:Markers: 1) alcohol-based – Copic Sketch, Prismacolor double ended markers (brush and fine point), Sharpies (fine and ultra-fine) and 2) water-based – Tombows dual end markers (brush and fine point), Stabilo 88, Staedler triplus fineliners, and Pentel markersGel Pens: Sakura, Fiskars, and TekwriterColoring Pencils: Prismacolor Premiere Soft Core, Derwent Colorsoft, Prismacolor Verithins, and Faber-Castel Polychromos

I have not colored in this book yet but from flipping through the pages it looks perfect! The patterns of these sugar skulls are exactly what I was hoping for when picking this book. I mostly use color pencils when coloring but recently bought markers as well, so the one sided pages are great to be able to use either pen or pencil and not worry about bleeding through and not being able to color reverse side. The pages are perforated for easy tear out for if you wish to color outside of the book or even to frame your work or give away. Easy tear out can make easy for sharing pages with friends or kids who love to color with mom! My son loves coloring with me so I often copy a page on my printer and we color our own page of the same design.I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for beautiful designs and patterns, and loves the sugar skull idea. They are nice and simple yet detailed enough without being so small that its hard to color without going over lines.

I love this book.At first thought skulls were a rather odd topic to be coloring, but now that I understand concept of Dia dE Los Muertos I totally luv it.I'm not one to visit cemeteries and have many people that have passed in my life. With this great book, I dedicated a certain page to a person that has passed, and while I color I think of all the fun I had with that person. As a counselor I feel this is very therapeutic and ordered another of Marty Nobles booksThe paper quality is very heavy. Pictures are nicely centered and various pictures have various amount of detail. Over all an Outstanding color book.

I love sugar skulls!! This book is full of a great variety! Marty Noble always does such great work and creates pictures that are fun and detailed, without details so small you go crazy trying to finish the page! I love how the details are different on every sugar skull so each one is its own individual picture. The pages in this book are single sided and perforated and the paper weight is thicker than a sheet of copy paper but not quite to cardstock level. If you move sugar skulls as much as me (a LOT) you won't be disappointed purchasing this book!

wasn't super impressed with a number of the images in this book. too large of area for coloring with markers, made more for someone that would want to shade with pencils or charcoals to get a good look. a few of them are good and I've already done them.

Great variety of sugar skulls. Great detail and love Marty Noble's artwork. Pages are crisp and easy to color on. I mainly use gel pens and occasionally colored pencils when I really want to get into shading or something. I'm no artist by far, and color mainly to relax and enjoy with the grandkids. Great book. Keep them coming!

I love this coloring book. Lots of great pages to choose from. I love the fAct that I can make copies from the book and not color in the book. Great way to make it last.

I like this product. I use gel pens to color so I like the fact that the paper doesnt bleed when i color on it. I also like the that there is only one picture on a page. Not a picture on the front and back. Ive seen other books from this artist and its not my taste. They aren't bad though. I wish there were more books that had actual flowers
