I have to read this book very slowly and patiently. I find myself reflecting by the end of each chapter.
Excellent and challenging messages preached nearly 200 years ago, but so very penetrating and practical for today. Messages are taken from agricultural passages in the Bible.
the 5-stars is for the layout, design and format of the book published by the University of California Library only, for i have not read the whole book through and unable to give it an honest critique.the publisher's version is a digital photo copy; each page is of an old original. Well put together and good paper was used.the following is my thoughts so far and not a thorough evaluation of the whole book;The first two chapters have been convicting and enlightening, Spurgeon is great at dissecting a verse and bringing it back together for its purpose; to point us to the Christ, our only true hope and joy. If your a farmer or gardener, these talks will be of much delight. the talks are a collection of his sermons, all united by agriculture themes. The verses chosen use agricultural truths to teach spiritual truths.
