I remember using this handwriting program as a kid, so when HWT didn't work well for us, I hunted this program down. In one month my 4th-grade child with the handwriting of a kindergartener (no, seriously, my 6yo had better handwriting!) has shown DRAMATIC improvement in flow and legibility.I recommend this book for kindergarten or first grade, but in extreme cases this even works for a struggling 4th grader!

We love these workbooks. I have used them with my kids since we started homeschooling six years ago. My children now have gorgeous handwriting; I wish I had learned to write this way. I have used these books and exercises to improve my own handwriting and it has helped me too.I don't bother with the teacher's manuals or any of the other supplies. We just use the workbooks and highly recommend them.

My daughter has been using these books for several years for homeschooling and has really enjoyed them. We allowed her to choose which method of handwriting she would learn. I think it helps so much to give children a choice out of several options. When they feel that it is their choice they have a much better attitude about getting the work done, and they also retain more information. Getty-Dubay Italic is easy to learn in comparison to traditional cursive, and I feel that it looks much nice too.

We love this series. The changes from manuscript to cursive are minimal and it sets them up for great success with calligraphy. My kids all started with Italic and later, if they wanted to learn looped cursive, they pretty much taught themselves. The only concern was that they didn't know all the looped letters for reading someone else's cursive, but that's pretty quickly remedied with a chart taped in their notebooks for easy reference.

We love the Getty-Dubay series. We treat it as art lessons as well as handwriting. My second grader's handwriting has markedly improved since we switched from the traditional method. My 8th grade daughter has beautiful handwriting because of it. I even bought a book for myself and enjoyed working through the whole thing.

My daughter's italic penmanship is beautiful after using this series (finished book D). Her printing is another story, but she finds the italic more efficient. Isn't that the whole purpose?! My goal was efficient legible handwriting that will help her get through speed-of-light college lectures. She started this at age 8.5 and just turned 11.My 8 yo son is still learning. I used this last year and chose to repeat it again this year, although we're doing 2 pages at a time now. Physiologically he just wasn't developed enough, but I'm definitely seeing progress. The only 2 complaints I have is lower case 'e' and 's'. He struggled with 'e' until I decided to have him start with a straight line out and then around. Their "e" is just too swirly (if that's a word) without enough guidance. Then there is 's'. Is there any GOOD way of teaching 's'?! I mean, is it just a curvey version of a 5 or what?I wish I had been taught this!
